Cloud-based Generation and Transfer of Solar Power in a Global Scale

چکیده

One of the most important resources we need today is electricity to carry out comfortably our day-to-day activities. While many nations in the world are abundantly enjoying this resource, more than 1.2 billion people do not have access to electricity. Most of these people are from developing nations typically from Africa and India. They happen to be poor and living in remote villages and mountainous terrains. Several agencies like the World Bank, UNDP, IEA and some developed countries are already taking steps to alleviate this energy poverty with the aim to achieve universal access to electrical power by the year 2030. These efforts are being implemented through well-known methods of electrical power production—both renewable as well as other types, one of which is harvesting the solar energy. As we know, sunlight is not available continuously, 24 hours per day. But what if we could make it so? Since one half the earth’s hemisphere does have sunlight, while the other half experiences night time, what if donor countries having the sunshine store the solar energy so it could be used during the night in receiver countries augmented by other types of electrical

Economic assessment of renewable power generation based on wind speed and solar radiation in urban regions

Economic evaluation of 12 MW grid-connected wind farms and PV power plants in two regions in Northern Cyprus for electricity generation was investigated. The wind speed, sunshine duration, and solar global radiation characteristics were analyzed using monthly data collected over 17 years (2000-2016) for Girne and nine years (2008-2016) for Lefkoşa, which were measured at various heights. The re...

Numerical Study of Natural Convection Heat Transfer in a Horizontal Wavy Absorber Solar Collector Based on the Second Law Analysis

Literature about entropy generation analysis of a wavy enclosure is scare. In this paper. a FORTRAN cod using an explicit finite-volume method was provided for estimating the entropy production due to the natural convection heat transfer in a cosine wavy absorber solar collector. The volumetric entropy generation terms both the heat transfer term and the friction term were straightly calculated...

Impacts of Nanoparticles and Nano Rod Arrays on Optical Generation Rate in Plasmonic-Based Solar Cells

In this article, the effect of plasmonics properties of metal nanorods and nanoparticles on solar cell performance were investigated and simulated. Due to the classic solar cell disadvantages, it seems that a plasmonic solar cell is one of these methods. In plasmonic solar cells, because of plasmonic effect, a high electric field builds around metal nanoparticles so that high conversion efficie...

A Multi-Year Scenario-Based Transmission Expansion Planning Model Incorporating Available Transfer Capability

This paper presents a multi-year scenario-based methodology for transmission expansion planning (TEP) in order to enhance the available transfer capability (ATC). The ATC is an important factor for all players of electricity market who participate in power transaction activities and can support the competition and nondiscriminatory access to transmission lines among all market participants. The...
